Supertunia® Saffron Finch™ is a new, sunny yellow Supertunia with a full, well-branched, rounded habit. Its flowers are a more intense yellow than Supertunia Limoncello, but they may transition to creamy yellow in southern climates. Try pairing Supertunia Saffron Finch with bold purples, reds and magentas for an especially eye-catching look. Its mounded trailing habit helps it mix beautifully with other medium to high vigor varieties in hanging baskets, upright containers and window boxes, and it can also be used as a flowering groundcover. Like all Supertunias, you can expect this colorful new petunia to bloom prolifically all season without deadheading.

  • 4-12 inches tall and 18-24 inches wide at maturity
  • Annual except in zones 10-11, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 12-24 inches apart for best results
  • Produces sunny yellow flowers spring to hard frost
  • Maintains green foliage spring to hard frost
  • Great for landscapes, containers, groundcover, window boxes, hanging baskets
  • Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds
  • Continuous bloomer, long blooming, heat tolerant, deadheading not necessary

Care: Fertilize weekly with Proven Winners Water Soluble Plant Food for best performance. Give a light trim anytime you think it's needed or at least once in July and once in August. Never trim off more than 20% of the branches.

Customers praised the "beautiful and abundant blooms" with vibrant yellow color. Most plants arrived healthy and well-packaged. However, some reported poor plant condition upon arrival, inconsistent rooting, and difficulty surviving extreme heat/humidity in zone 8. Several noted smaller-than-expected plants. Overall positive performance in containers with proper care.

Unfortunately, a nearby nest of bunnies is starting a smorgasbord. I’m using repellent to keep them at bay.

Very happy with Saffron Finch Supertunia

I took a chance this year ordering the Saffron Finch, hoping they would be as colorful and large as the Bubblegum...and so far, they are! They are a bright yellow, look beautiful in all the containers, and mix well with the Bubblegum too. The plants are just getting started right now, but I can see they are very hardy and handling the crazy weather (rain, strong wind) we are currently having here in NV. I am looking forward to some beautiful displays of color as they grow. Will be buying these again for sure.

I've been very impressed with this petunia. It has stayed in bloom for over 3 months with no pruning, or a reviving haircut. I planted it in an urn and in flower boxes with other plants and I love how the yellow color works with white, blue and coral. I use a mix of equal parts time-release fertilizer and a granular organic fertilizer, stirred into my containers before I plant, and these petunias haven't needed anything else so far. I anticipate that this plant will continue flowering into the fall.

I’ve always wanted to try Limoncello but never found them in a greenhouse. This year I ordered Supertunia saffron finch. They are beautiful with Supertunia bubblegum and Suberbena raspberry in half barrel planters and Superbena whiteout in planters over the railing.

Beautiful and thriving!! Thank you for sharing all of your photos with us! :)

Hello PW. I received all the plants I order and in good condition. The weather has changed here, chiller than it was. I have them stored in the large box they were shipped in and on the covered porch. I have been watering and moving them in the sun. Can't wait to plant them! I will have to look for some other plants to buy. Thanks!
