Fire Light blooms emerge creamy-white and age to a vivid red for lots of summer color. This low maintenance shrub has huge, full flower heads and sturdy, strong stems. It makes a great cut flower, fresh or dried, and can be used as a hedge, specimen, or incorporated into flower gardens and foundation plantings.

  • 6-8 feet tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 3-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part sun (4+ hours daily) in southern climates and part to full sun in northern climates
  • Space plants 6-8 feet apart for best results
  • Produces creamy-white flowers that age to pink and red throughout summer
  • Maintains green foliage spring through frost
  • Great for borders, landscapes, hedges, cut or dried flowers
  • Salt tolerant, long blooming, fall interest

Care:  Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Prefers well-drained soil that does not remain soggy for any amount of time. To prune, simply cut back by one-third of its total height every spring, just as new growth begins to emerge on stems. Make cuts just about 1/4 of an inch above a bud. Dead or damaged wood can be removed at any time.

I am not sure about this plants survival!

I am not sure about this plants survival. It came a little beaten up from shipping but it was dormant. I planted it with some amended soil and biome starter to help with transplant shock. It’s been in the ground just a few days so time will tell if it does well.

Hi there! Thank you for your review and for choosing our Fire Light® Panicle Hydrangea. We're sorry to hear that it arrived a bit beat up from shipping, but we're glad to hear you took measures to help it with the transplant shock. Planting it with amended soil and a biome starter was a great idea. We hope it has settled in well and that you see some growth soon. Please keep us updated on its progress!

This hydrangea is the replacement plant for a previous shipment where the plant was placed upside down in the box. All the branches of the previous plant were broken, so I was sent a replacement. The replacement is not as healthy looking as the first plant, but it has some new growth, so I am hopeful. We are having a drought in this area, so I am not going to plant this hydrangea right away. I am watering it and waiting for some cooler, wetter weather. I am thankful that I was sent a replacement so quickly, so that I will be able to plant before winter.if the picture comes through, note that there are some dried leaves, indicating that the plant may have dried out at some point, but has now recovered

Thank you for sharing!! Our Proven Winners plants are grown in southeast Michigan where things are getting colder, and plants are beginning their dormancy process. During dormancy, plants go inactive and conserve their energy for the next growing season. This happens naturally as seasons and weather change. Plants shift into dormancy because of cold weather, fewer hours of sunlight exposure, shorter days, and expectations developed from previous seasonal cycles.

Things You May Notice:

~Yellowing/browning leaves
~Spots
~Thinning foliage (leaf drop)

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any further questions!

Sincerely,
PWD Team

I have purchased plants from them for years and always gotten wonderful preforming plants, I guess those days are over… The box stores are carrying nicer plants than I received. I think I give up.
