Blue Chiffon produces large blue-lavender flowers each adorned with a lacy center to create an anemone-like bloom that stands out in late summer to early fall. Refined, rounded habit with soft, elegant stems, that produces few to no seeds. It is heat, drought, and salt tolerant, deer resistant, and attracts pollinators to boot! Whether you plant one striking specimen or mix and match for a colorful collection, you will see that Chiffon series Roses of Sharon are anything but conventional.

  • 8-12 feet tall and 6-10 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 5-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 6-10 feet apart for best results
  • Produces blue-lavender flowers throughout summer
  • Maintains dark foliage spring to frost
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for borders, containers, screening, landscape, mass planting or as a focal point
  • Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds while resisting deer
  • Heat, drought and salt tolerant, long blooming, low maintenance, clay tolerant

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners® Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and midsummer. Requires well-draining soil. Regular pruning is not necessary. If any shaping is desired, do so in early spring. Note that Rose of Sharon is quite late to leaf out in spring, so be patient with it.

Blue Chiffon® Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus)

I appreciated the prompt service, but I was disappointed that the Rose of Sharon was only about six inches tall with only a few chewed leaves. I ordered another color from another company and it was over twice that size and was covered with buds.

Thank you for sharing your review of your Blue Chiffon® Rose of Sharon. We're sorry to see this! We're happy to replace it or issue store credit if you wish. :) Please respond to this email and let us know which works best for you!

Blue Chiffon® Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus)

I ordered 4 gallon size Rose of Sharon shrubs. Because of late week ordering, it took four days since no delivery on Sunday. I was worried about shipping length of time but was amazed at the care in packing, moist soil and not one wilted leaf. I will definitely order from this company again. I repotted immediately for more growing time. There are buds on the shrubs.

Thank you for sharing Garden Friend! Happy Spring, Enjoy!!

diseased and barely alive

I ordered a lot of plants from here and my hibiscus came with live disease which after a week I was able to eradicate, but the plant is stressed, I’m trying really hard to keep it alive, but it looks like the Charlie Brown Xmas tree.

We're sorry to hear about your experience! Please send us pictures of the plant at HelpDesk@ProvenWinnersDirect.com so we can assist you further.😊🌺

The plant arrived in good condition. However I was so surprised at a gallon plant that was very small. And then there was the shipping total came to $60. That seemed excessive. I probably woul not order again.

I just received the plant. It was healthy and is settling in nicely. As it has not yet bloomed, I cannot speak to that.

The plant looks healthy and dormant. It was shipped very well as usual. I was disappointed that they both have algae, but they promise it will be fine.

Enjoy!

Blue Chiffon® Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus)

I ordered and received my Blue Chiffon Rose of Sharon in late spring. After accustoming it to our location, I planted it in a sunny protected location. It has done nothing. It just sits there - no new growth. It did put out about five lovely flowers initially. I water it and I have given it liquid fertilizer. Now I have been a master gardener for well over 20 yrs., raise well over a thousand plants each yr in my greenhouse, so I am not a novice gardener. Yet I cannot get this plant to grow! I am more than frustrated!!

Not deer resistant where I live (NC)

Thank you for sharing your review! Even deer-resistant does not mean it’s deer-proof. Deer will eat just about anything if they are hungry enough! You may want to try using a deer repellent such as PlantSkydd around the perimeter of your yard to keep deer away from your plants.

Sincerely,
PWD Team
