'Storm Cloud' Bluestar is a striking perennial that offers year-round beauty with its unique seasonal display. In spring, new stems emerge in a near-black hue, accompanied by dark green leaves veined with silver, creating a dramatic contrast. The stems retain their deep color throughout the season. Late spring brings a stunning profusion of light periwinkle blue, star-shaped flowers that completely cover the foliage, continuing to bloom for many weeks. While spring is the height of its beauty, 'Storm Cloud' maintains a strong garden presence throughout the summer and fall. Its wide, mounded habit makes it an excellent choice for replacing shrubs in the landscape, offering both visual appeal and structural interest.

  • 24-30 inches tall and 38-42 inches wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 4-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 38-42 inches apart for best results
  • Produces periwinkle blue, star-shaped flowers late spring to early summer
  • Maintains dark green foliage on black stems spring to frost
  • Great for borders, landscapes, mass planting, cut flower and foliage
  • Resists deer
  • Heat tolerant, low maintenance, fall interest

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners® Continuous Release Fertilizer in spring. Cutting the stems back to within 6-8" of the ground after flowering will result in fuller growth.
