When winter finally loosens its grip, Show Off® Forsythia bursts onto the scene in a dazzling display of brilliant yellow blooms. Every branch is densely lined with flowers, packed so tightly they nearly obscure the wood beneath—like each stem has been streaked with sunshine from a giant highlighter.

Unlike older forsythia varieties that sprawl uncontrollably, Show Off® keeps a neat, compact form, reaching a manageable 5 to 6 feet without pruning. Its upright habit makes it perfect for borders, mass plantings, or as a cheerful spring focal point.

Hardy and adaptable, it tolerates black walnut, resists deer, and handles a touch of drought once established. If you're looking for a dependable, low-maintenance shrub that announces spring in the most spectacular way, Show Off® Forsythia more than lives up to its name.

  • 5-6 feet tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 5-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full to part sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 5-6 feet apart for best results
  • Produces abundant bright yellow flowers starting early in spring
  • Maintains green foliage spring to fall
  • Blooms on old wood
  • Great for landscapes, mixed borders, mass planting, cut flowers, screening or as a focal point
  • Resists deer
  • Drought tolerant, low maintenance, deadheading not necessary

Care:  Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring. Grows well in any soil. Pruning has to be perfectly timed not to interfere with flowering. If you’d like to shape it, you can do so just after it finishes flowering in the springtime. Rejuvenation pruning is recommended. Cut 1/3 of the old, thick branches down completely every three to five years. This will encourage the plant to create juvenile growth, which flowers most abundantly.
