Bring a touch of the tropics to even cold climates with Pollypetite® Rose of Sharon—a dwarf hybrid that delivers big impact in a perfectly petite package. With its naturally rounded habit and lush, oversized foliage tinged with blue, Pollypetite® adds bold texture and color to borders, pathways, or as a playful low hedge.

Its wide-open, solid blooms—some see pale lavender, others a cool pink—stand out beautifully against the foliage and make irresistible landing pads for hummingbirds and bees. And while it looks exotic, it’s refreshingly easy to grow. Low seed set means no pesky seedlings, and its deer resistance, heat tolerance, and unfussy attitude toward soil make it a breeze for any gardener. Pollypetite® offers a relaxed, lush vibe without the high-maintenance demands.

  • 3-4 feet tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 5-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 3-4 feet apart for best results
  • Produces pink-ish purple flowers throughout summer
  • Maintains large, pronounced blue-green foliage from spring until frost
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for borders, containers, hedges, landscapes, mass planting or as a focal point
  • Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds while resisting deer
  • Heat, drought and salt tolerant, long blooming, low maintenance

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Requires well-draining soil. Regular pruning is not necessary. If any shaping is desired, do so in early spring. Note that Rose of Sharon is quite late to leaf out in spring, so be patient with it.
