Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners® Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and midsummer. Best in full sun or light shade, keep base and roots completely shaded. "Feet in the shade, head in the sun" is a saying you may have heard for successfully growing clematis, so plant it where the vine gets sunshine, but the roots stay cool. Requires well-draining soil. You can accomplish this with mulch, or by shading the root zone with a nearby shrub or perennial. Prune hard to 18 inches in late winter. Leave at least two pairs of buds on each stem.
