Happy Jack Purple displays velvety plum-purple flowers with intriguing center highlights and bright yellow stamens. This early and long-flowering beauty blooms from mid-summer into fall with large 3-5" blooms. Clematis requires a trellis or support to climb up.

6-8 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide at maturity
Hardy in zones 5-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
Space plants 4-5 feet apart for best results

Care: Best in full sun or light shade, keep base and roots completely shaded. "Feet in the shade, head in the sun" is a saying you may have heard for successfully growing clematis, so plant it where the vine gets sunshine, but the roots stay cool. Requires well-drained soil. You can accomplish this with mulch, or by shading the root zone with a nearby shrub or perennial. Prune back to 2 feet in spring. Fertilize with Proven Winners® Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and midsummer.
