Please note: Our Ships Now shrubs are still waking up from dormancy! In the spring, shrubs begin to emerge from dormancy with swelling buds and potentially new growth as temperatures rise and daylight hours increase. Most dormant shrubs start leafing out in April, depending on the specific plant and local weather conditions.

Care: Best in full sun or light shade, keep base and roots completely shaded. "Feet in the shade, head in the sun" is a saying you may have heard for successfully growing clematis, so plant it where the vine gets sunshine, but the roots stay cool. You can accomplish this with mulch, or by shading the root zone with a nearby shrub or perennial. Prune back to 2 feet in spring. Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer.

The Happy Jack arrived in very good shape and had strong roots. The packaging was very good and showed Proven Winners gave plant shipping a great deal of thought. These plants are going in a raised bed in October, in zone 8b, so they can winter in. They look like they should flourish come springtime.

For $17 each, I received small plants with broken stems and dried leaves. Not worth it. The dying plants in the clearance section in Lowes look better than what was delivered .

Plant was in great shape when it came. PW packs their plants so well. I planted it in an 18” diameter pot where it gets morning sun about 6 hours in our high desert garden zone 8b AZ with annuals around it to shade roots and it is on drip irrigation. It flowered well but when temps got above 100 it hadn’t produced any other blooms. We are in our monsoon so I hope it will begin blooming again. Our environment is very harsh here so we will see how it goes. If it doesn’t flourish it won’t be a PW plant problem but my environment and care here. I am a PW fan big time and love their plants and will continue to purchase plants from them.

Love it. It arrived in beautiful condition and is very happy in a pot at the moment until going into it's forever home. So happy to have it, it has always been a favorite of mine. Thank you for being so dependable.
