Quick Fire Fab® has football-sized, mophead blooms with densely packed x-shaped flowers of a creamy white color. The blooms age pink, to bright pink, to deep red through the season, starting at the base of the bloom and working up towards the tip. It blooms earlier in the summer than the other panicle hydrangeas, extending the color show through the seasons. Beautiful for use as a fresh or dried cut flower and deadheading is not necessary for continued bloom.

  • 6-8 feet tall and 5-6 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 3-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part sun (4+ hours daily) in southern climates and part to full sun in northern climates
  • Space plants 5-6 feet apart for best results
  • Produces white blooms in early summer aging to pink and red shades in fall
  • Maintains green foliage spring to frost
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for borders, containers, landscapes, hedges, cut and dried flowers
  • Long blooming, deadheading not necessary, fall interest, salt tolerant, early bloomer

Care:  Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Prefers well-drained soil that does not remain soggy for any amount of time. To prune, simply cut back by one-third of its total height every spring, just as new growth begins to emerge on stems. Make cuts just about 1/4 of an inch above a bud. Dead or damaged wood can be removed at any time.

Quick Fire Fab® Panicle Hydrangea (paniculata)

I bought 5 different types of 1 gallon hydrangea during Nov 2024, including puffer fish, gatsby moon oakleaf, quick fire fab, limelight prime, and incredible blush. They all came in with just little bare branches, except for the oakleaf type with some small leaves. All nicely packaged. I was pretty suspicious about whether they will grow out. Turns out they did. :-) Plenty leaves by April now, no buds yet, but all look healthy. I would recommend waiting till spring to purchase. The plants are in much better shape when I got the new addition in April.

Beautiful and thriving!! Thank you for sharing your photos with us!

A little crispy on arrival.

These arrived with the black elderberry plant. These had crispy leaves, but again, they were traveling for a few days and temps are hot. Planted and keeping them watered. I think they'll do fine.

They seem to be doing well. Haven't been able to plant yet since still having hard freezes, but doing well in my sunroom with the rest of the plants waiting their to turn to go out. These will go up both sides of my driveway for some privacy and gorgeous color.

😍😍😍 How dreamy! Feel free to share photos along the way.

Location: Green Bay, Wisconsin, zone 5. Full sun. I bought 8 quart-size and 1 gallon size. I'm a novice that's slowly building a romantic-cottage style garden on a new-build (blank slate smallish residential plot). I planted these Quick Fire Fabs two weeks too early for my zone (I should have waited until Memorial Day weekend). The quart size plants were placed along backyard for an eventual hedge (northeast & southeast facing) with a line of 2 year old emerald arborvitaes set behind them. Gallon plant was planted in my front yard bed (west facing). A hard frost hit the night after I put them in and the all of the quart sized plants lost their leaves, their stems also browned and died. But I kept covering them each night for two weeks with upside down pots, kept the soil moist, amended top with worm castings and mulch. And they all re-grew with brand new stems and leaves and made growth all season long! Some even ended up with a flower or two by the end of summer! The color transition is amazing and I can't wait to see them creep and leap in the next two years! All came back over winter (I trimmed them down to 2-4 main stems March 8th). I did end up putting cages around them last summer to protect them from rabbits, and again, watered throughout the season. Thanks PW for your hard work at making your plants so intentionally healthy and lovely! I do a lot of research before committing to any new plant, and time and time again, it's PW that I go with. :)

We're so happy to hear that you are enjoying your plants!! You are taking great care of them! Be sure to share photos later in the season.😊

Have only had it a couple weeks. It came quickly, but was very small. Only two stems, and one was broken off. It is growing. I'm hopeful it will increase in size.

They came looking great! I thought they would be a little bigger but I was not disappointed at all! The foliage is thick and green and should root in well and grow significantly in the Spring.

Quick Fire Fab® Panicle Hydrangea (paniculata)

As I am normally happy with the products from Proven Winners Direct, I ordered the gallon size. I wanted to ensure a healthy beginning here at the end of the summer. Two of the plants look good; one of them is pretty spindly and could better be served in a quart container. I am hoping it will catch up as I do not want to pay the shipping or struggle the hassle of exchanging it. Shipping and handling department did a great job as usual getting it to me on a timely basis; the pickers or growers could probably have had had a bad day. I see there is only one left in stock so maybe I got the 3 best they had? However, I look forward to some pretty blooms on all 3 in a couple of years.

I'm sure these are beautiful plants, but the ones I received were very small had hardly any roots. One promptly died and the other one has only one tiny stem still alive. Next time I will just buy at my local garden center.
