There’s nothing else quite like the Vinho Verde® Weigela! After years of positive feedback from trial garden visitors during its evaluation, Proven Winners® is pleased to offer this unique selection, characterized by lime green leaves set off with a bold, black margin. Like all variegated plants, it will occasionally revert, but it reverts to all black, so will not overgrow the plant. A light crop of red-pink flowers appears in late spring, but the foliage - coupled with an irresistibly neat habit - is the primary reason to grow this beauty!

  • 3-5 feet tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 5-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 3-5 feet apart for best results
  • Maintains green foliage with black edges spring through frost
  • Produces reddish pink flowers late spring through early summer
  • Blooms on old wood
  • Great for borders, containers, landscapes, mass plantings
  • Attracts hummingbirds and resists deer
  • Foliage interest

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Prefers well-drained soils but is fairly adaptable to other soil types. If desired, prune immediately after the spring bloom.
