Double Play® Gold spiraea has both bright flowers and colorful foliage. This compact, low mounded plant has vibrant golden foliage and an abundance of pure pink summer flowers. It adds easy, season long color to gardens with very little effort. Double Play Gold maintains its compact mounded shape with very little pruning and has much brighter color than other gold spiraea varieties.

  • 1.5-2 feet tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 3-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 1.5-2 feet apart for best results
  • Produces pure pink flowers in late spring through early summer
  • Maintains vibrant gold foliage from spring to frost
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for landscapes and mass planting
  • Attracts hummingbirds and resists deer
  • Drought tolerant, foliage interest, disease resistant
  • Shrubs shipped Nov-Apr will arrive dormant; shrubs shipped Apr-Oct will arrive green or in bloom

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid summer. Pruning isn’t necessary for the plant’s health, but for appearances’ sake you can shape it in early spring. If desired, you can also give it a light trim after its first flush of flowers to promote colorful new growth.

Fun fact: Though you wouldn't guess it by looking at it, spirea is closely related to roses and raspberries.
