'Pardon My Purple' Bee Balm (Monarda didyma)

Please Note: Our Ships Now perennials will currently ship dormant. The foliage and blooms begin to brown and die back. We provide a hard trim in the greenhouse to support this process. During dormancy, plants go inactive to conserve their energy for the next growing season. This happens naturally as seasons change!

Meet 'Pardon My Purple', the perfect addition for those who love bold color but need a smaller footprint in the garden! This compact Monarda reaches just a foot tall, forming a neat, well-branched clump of deep green, glossy foliage. From mid to late summer, large fuchsia purple flowers—measuring 2½-3" across—burst forth, creating a stunning contrast against the foliage. Despite its dwarf size, the flowers are just as impressive as those on taller varieties. The sweet nectar attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees, making 'Pardon My Purple' not only a beautiful but also a pollinator-friendly choice for your garden!

  • 10-12 inches tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 4-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 10-12 inches apart for best results
  • Produces fragrant, fuchsia-purple flowers mid to late summer
  • Maintains fragrant green foliage spring to frost
  • Great for borders, containers, cut flower, landscapes, mass planting
  • Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds and resists deer
  • Native to North Ameria

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant food in spring and mid-summer. Provide good air circulation to prevent disease.
