In the spring, shrubs begin to emerge from dormancy with swelling buds and potentially new growth as temperatures rise and daylight hours increase. Care:  Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Prefers moist, well-draining soil. It does not respond well to any period of extended sogginess. Avoid pruning Cascade hydrangeas, except to remove any dead wood. These hydrangeas cannot be cut back or trimmed at any time of the year without impacting the bloom for either the current season or the next.
