Sweetheart Jet Black™ is a moody, dark sweet potato vine that's perfect for adding contrast in just about any garden. The plentiful foliage that this plant produces is an extremely deep shade of purple and looks like a muted black from a distance. It's easy to care for, too, making this plant all contrast and no compromise!
- 16 inches tall and 18 inches wide at maturity
- Annual except in zone 11
- Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
- Space plants 12-18 inches apart for best results
- Maintains purple to black foliage spring through frost
- Great for borders, containers, edging, groundcover, landscape and mass plantings
- Foliage interest, heat tolerant, deadheading not necessary
The Eco+Grande features nutrients embedded in the container walls, which help plants grow bigger and faster throughout the season when planted in the ground. Be sure to remove the tabs from the container before planting. If you choose to plant in a container, we recommend taking the plant out of the Eco+Grande, breaking it apart, and mixing it into the soil at the time of planting. When the Proven Winners Eco+Grande container is discarded in the garbage can, it will naturally break down faster in a landfill than a traditional petroleum made container. The container will get smaller and smaller until microbes consume it, turning it back into an inert organic product. Learn more about this in our blog.
Care: Fertilize weekly with Proven Winners Water Soluble Plant Food for best performance. Prune to shape as desired throughout the season.
