Looking to cover a fence, trellis, or arbor with color fast? Dressed to Thrill® Crossvine delivers with vigor and style. This North American native is a fast-growing, tendril-climbing vine that bursts into bloom from spring through summer with large, trumpet-shaped flowers in fiery orangey-red tones. Bright yellow throats act as bullseyes for hummingbirds and butterflies, turning your vertical space into a pollinator hotspot.

Unlike some aggressive climbers, this beauty grows with purpose—not chaos. It thrives in a wide range of soils, as long as they drain well, and shrugs off heat and drought like a pro. Its vines become woody with age, so a sturdy structure is best from the start—or plan to provide extra support over time.

With its bold color, wildlife appeal, and no-fuss adaptability, Dressed to Thrill™ gives your garden an instantly lush, established look—without the headaches.

  • 12-30 feet tall and 6-9 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 6-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 6-9 feet apart for best results
  • Produces orangey-red trumpet shaped flowers with yellow eyes from spring to summer
  • Maintains green foliage year round
  • Blooms on new and old wood
  • Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies
  • Great for containers, borders, edges, screening, landscapes, mass planting or as a focal point
  • Evergreen, non-invasive, drought tolerant, heat tolerant, long blooming, native to North America

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners® Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. May be sheared or shaped if desired. Needs little to no pruning. If you do wish to prune or trim, the best time to do that is in late spring/early summer, after the first flowers have faded. Crossvine produces flowers on both old and new wood, so pruning at any other time risks the appearance of blooms.

1/2 Dead on Arrival

I purchased 6 plants. 2 were already crispy the day they arrived. 1 wasn’t looking great. 3 looked perfect. The three good ones seem to be doing great. but to have1/2 the plants dead on arrival ispretty crappy.

I’ve never received my plant

I’ve never received my plant. I reached out via email and got an automated response with no follow up. I will not be ordering from proven winners again. I’ve waited on a response before leaving this negative review, and got nothing. Also, having to download “shop” to track my shipment is not something I want to do. It is a pain to get unsubscribed from them and I prefer not using them-but that’s the only option given for tracking my shipment - so I can’t even track it.

Hi Misty,

We're sorry for your experience. Although I am happy you reached out to our helpdesk, don't worry, our team will get back to your email. 😊 Also you don't have to check out with Shop if you don't wish too, that is just an option. Our customers will always receive tracking confirmations along with tracking lines once their order has been shipped to the email address they used to check out. There is no need to download Shop to see your tracking for future orders.
We will make sure you are taken care of! 😊
