Tuff Stuff has sturdy lacecap blooms that will be bright pink or deep purple-blue, depending on your soil pH, and the handsome dark green foliage resists wilting. Add aluminum sulfate to the soil to encourage purple/blue flower color. It blooms early in summer on old wood, then again on new wood in late summer for summer-long color that attracts butterflies.

  • 2-3 feet tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 5-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full sun in northern climates and part sun (4+ hours daily) in southern climates
  • Space plants 3-4 feet apart for best results
  • Maintains green foliagefrom spring to fall
  • Produces saturated pink, purple, or blue lace-cap flowers during summer depending on your soil acidity

Care:  Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer.

 Avoid pruning mountain hydrangeas, except to remove any dead wood. These hydrangeas cannot be cut back or trimmed at any time of the year without impacting the bloom for either the current season or the next. Soil pH affects flower color. Blooms will be its blue in acidic soils and pink in alkaline soil. Add a little aluminum sulfate if a soil test reveals that you have neutral or basic pH (7 and above).
