Please note: Our Ships Now shrubs are still waking up from dormancy! In the spring, shrubs begin to emerge from dormancy with swelling buds and potentially new growth as temperatures rise and daylight hours increase. As a larger, puffed-up version of Bobo, Puffer Fish® panicle hydrangea has white fluffy blooms that engulf the entire plant, nearly obscuring the foliage. The flowers open as a beautiful, pure white bloom, and as they age, turn lime green with a fresh sprig of white flowers blooming at the tip of the panicle. Puffer Fish has a tight, compact growing habit with upright stems strong enough to hold its voluptuous blooms all season long.

  • 3-5 feet tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 3-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part sun (4+ hours daily) in southern climates and part to full sun in northern climates
  • Space plants 3-5 feet apart for best results
  • Produces fluffy white flowers that age to lime green from summer through fall
  • Maintains green foliage spring to frost
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for borders, containers, landscapes, hedges, cut or dried flowers
  • Salt tolerant, fall interest

Care:  Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Prefers well-drained soil that does not remain soggy for any amount of time. To prune, simply cut back by one-third of its total height every spring, just as new growth begins to emerge on stems. Make cuts just about 1/4 of an inch above a bud. Dead or damaged wood can be removed at any time.

Bought 5 last September. They did a terrific job this summer in the hot Dallas weather. They were in sun until around 3 p.m. and then shade took over. The leaves, however, all have brown edges -especially the tips - and are dry. I also lost one in the grouping and don't know why. Could the brown be caused by water after my system went off in the early morning? Would very much appreciate feedback. They were all fertilized in early spring with Holly Tone. I'd leave a photo, but I'm never good at doing that.

I ordered these for the first time last year in the gallon size and they have done well. They bloomed in their second season this year. They have been growing in dry clay soil on the west side of my house in 7a in Kentucky. The location has killed and maimed many plants, so that fact that this beautiful shrub is thriving there is remarkable. They arrived in perfect shape and have continued to perform well. My photo is from the end of the season after the blooms shifted from creamy white to green.

Great Experience. Shrub came with little to no sign of stress (one broken branch on 3 plants, and no wilting, even though it was shipped during a heat wave). Can’t recommend PAD enough
