Limelight Hydrangea has huge, football-shaped flowers that open in an elegant celadon green that looks fresh and clean in summer's heat. The blooms age to an array of pink, red, and burgundy which persists through frost for months of irresistible flowers. A long-time favorite of professional florists, it also makes an excellent cut flower, fresh or dried. It is drought tolerant and blooms every year, even in cold climates.

  • 6-8 feet tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 3-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 7-8 feet apart for best results
  • Produces green flowers in mid-summer that transform to pink, red, and burgundy in fall
  • Maintains green foliage spring to frost
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for borders, hedges, landscapes, cut and dried flowers
  • Drought tolerant, long blooming, fall interest

Care:  Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Prefers well-drained soil that does not remain soggy for any amount of time. To prune, simply cut back by one-third of its total height every spring, just as new growth begins to emerge on stems. Make cuts just about 1/4 of an inch above a bud. Dead or damaged wood can be removed at any time.

Packaging and notice of delivery good. Plant SAD! No green leaves now at all. Is that normal?
PWD reply
Thank you for sharing, we can assure you that the current condition of your plants is perfectly normal. :)

During the winter months here in southeast Michigan, we keep our shrubs in cooler greenhouses where they go dormant. This dormancy usually lasts from November to April at our greenhouses. During dormancy, plants go inactive and conserve their energy for the next growing season. This happens naturally as seasons and weather change.

As a result, the plant looks dead: no leaves or flowers. When the weather conditions begin to transition and get warmer, your dormant plants will wake up and return to business as usual! 🌺
