Cheer Drops® Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis)

I purchased 3 cheer drop plants in May of 2024 and while they are alive and healthy they seem to be slow to medium growers. Was hoping they would grow much faster like the green giant arborvitae. We do fertilize every year and water. They have a nice appealing shape and they are low maintenance however for my landscaping needs I will buy green giants in the future.

Thank you for your review! 😊

Cheer Drops® Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis)

My tear drops looked good when I received them except one it had a lot of browning on the top to mid way down and I have watered and tried trimming some if it off I just don’t like that burnt end look when the other three are green and lush.

Rishel,

Thank you for sharing!

We're sorry to see its conditions.

We recommend watering daily in the morning if possible, and moving your shrub to a location with partial shade.

If there is no improvement within a few weeks, please feel free to reply to this email with an updated photo.

Cheer Drops® Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis)

I purchased the cheerdrops arborvitae, miss molly butterfly bush, purple lilac bush and lime punch hydrangea. The hydrangea I am not pleased with. It is very small and wimpy. For the money I paid, I should have gotten a much better plant. I do not expect it to do good at all... The other three are hopeful especially the arborvitae. It arrived beautiful and looking very healthy.

Roger,

Thank you for sharing!! I am so very sorry to hear you are disappointed in your experience thus far. Please be assured that Proven Winners plants are very healthy and vigorous when they leave our greenhouse. However our shrubs are still awakening from their dormancy phase. If you notice the plant is not showing signs of improvement within a couple of weeks, please do reach back out to us with a few detailed photos. It is very beneficial to see what you are seeing to be able to assist you best and we would love that opportunity!

I ordered seven of these for a natural screen at the back of a yard. They arrived quickly, in perfect condition and are much bigger than I expected for one-gallon plants. Very happy with my purchase.

Hi Karen, Thank you for sharing your experience!! We love to hear it. :)

Packaging was great, but need some type of round cardboard with a slit for the plant to keep soil from spilling out of the pot - the delivery person doesn’t always keep package upright as I had soil all over the bottom of the box- a few had lots of the roots exposed.
Other than one shrub with a curved shaped (hopefully it will straighten out as it grows) they looked healthy!

Can the Cheerdrops shrubs be trimmed to have a rounded top rather than a pointed one?

Proven Winners Direct™

Thank you for reaching out, we are happy to help! Yes, if you wish to trim Cheer Drops® Arborvitae, do so in late spring/early summer, after the new growth has emerged. Avoid cutting into any very thick stems unless you are removing them entirely, as this can leave an unsightly hole in the plant and recovery from such cuts is typically slow.

Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any further questions!

Sincerely,
PWD Team
