Prepare to be amazed by Kodiak Jet Black® diervilla, the world’s first diervilla with striking, jet-black foliage that stays bold and dramatic all season long. Unlike traditional varieties that tend to fade with the summer heat, this incredible shrub maintains its deep, velvety black leaves from spring to fall, creating an eye-catching contrast against its bright yellow summer blooms. The result is a show-stopping display that commands attention in any garden or landscape. Perfect for gardeners looking to add something truly unique, Kodiak Jet Black® provides a stunning focal point with its sleek, dark foliage, while also attracting pollinators with its cheerful yellow flowers. But that's not all—thanks to its amazing foliage, Kodiak Jet Black® is also fantastic for cutting gardens! Its rich, black leaves make a fantastic filler in flower arrangements, adding texture and drama to indoor displays. If you're looking to add something completely different to your landscape or floral arrangements, Kodiak Jet Black® diervilla delivers a one-of-a-kind look that's as tough and adaptable as it is visually stunning.

Plants arrived healthy and strong

Plants arrived healthy and strong. We are in a severe drought and I planted right away and watered deeply. I've not had to water that much since they handle dry conditions well but just enough to get them established. They have held their dark color well and have started to put on healthy growth.I do have them in cages to protect them from rabbits and deer until they are fully established but even if they do get grazed when larger they seem to be incredibly tough plants so I'm sure they will bounce back. Very happy with my purchase.

Kodiak Jet Black™ (Diervilla hybrid) | Proven Winners® New Variety 2026

This one may or may not survive. It looks like it was well grown, but it barely filled the pot and the root ball was destroyed from very bad packing and rough handling. Such a shame to spend so much effort on growing a plant well, then just throwing them into a box to ship them.

Plants were packaged well and arrived in great shape. Plants were approximately 7 to 8 inches tall and had new leaf buds on every stem. T
