2026 Rose of the Year!

Rise Up Lilac Days® rose is a beautiful mini-climber with unique, lilac-blue flowers and a powerful, heady fragrance. Its versatile growth allows it to be both a climber and a shrub depending on how the gardener prunes or trains them, with a neat, dense-growing habit of vigorous and healthy reblooming roses. The Rise Up® series of roses is the first-ever climbing roses from Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Shrubs and are a perfect addition to your vertical garden, adding depth, dimension and overall beauty.

  • 5-8 feet tall and 2-4 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 4-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 2-4 feet apart for best results
  • Maintains dark green foliage from spring through frost
  • Produces light purple flowers, reblooming throughout summer
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for container, cut flower, specimen or focal point
  • Disease resistant, long blooming

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid summer.  Prune back by a third of the height early in the spring to maintain shape and promote blooming, making cuts just above a healthy bud as this will produce the most vigorous growth. May be deadheaded, but is not required for continuous blooming.

A vigorous climbing rose praised as "the most beautiful" with fragrant lilac-pink blooms and disease resistance. Customers loved the healthy plants and excellent packaging. However, some noted color is more pink than lilac, slow initial growth, and occasional shipping damage. "Few thorns" appreciated for a climber.

Rise Up Lilac Days® Rose

This is my new favorite rose. I planted it last summer and this year it was the first to bloom despite the cold rainy spring. It was smothered in the prettiest dainty, perfect lilac roses. It is planted right next to my porch and the fragrance was heavenly. It has also proven to be the most disease and pest resistant of all my many roses. My Above and Beyond Rose was heavily fed on and this beauty remained untouched and pristine.

Wow! Stunning!! 😍

Pretty but NOT “Lilac”

these are nice pink climbing roses but they are not remotely lilac-colored, not a hint of blue. Name and some photos is misleading.

Hard start but good recovery expected

This plant had a rough shipping experience. THe box was a bit banged up and the plant was sideways when I opened it up with about half the soil dumped out. I planted it as soon as I could and it seems to be rooting in and looking better. Obviously the plant is a quality plant or it probably would not have faired well. THe customer service on this was first class!

I have had several rose bushes from Proven Winners and other companiesThis one came on time and in great shapeAll my other rosebushes have died shortly after planting themI finally figured out there is something eating my rose bushes so I put a fence around this one and it seems to have stopped the critters. Can you give me any advice on how to keep them away besides a fence

Thank you for your review of our Rise Up Lilac Days® Rose. We are so glad to hear that it arrived on time and in great shape. We're sorry to hear about your other rose bushes dying, but it's great that you figured out the issue and were able to protect this one with a fence. In addition to a fence, you could try using natural repellents or planting certain herbs and flowers that deter critters. Feel free to reach out to our customer service team for more personalized advice.

My rise up rose arrived in perfect condition! I believe it was shipped out on a Wednesday and I received it the following Monday. I’m guessing the sleeve it was in being breathable was big part of keeping it in great shape.

Ordered two…both died

i’m so sad I ordered two rice of Lilac roses. I live in Northern California where the weather smiled. I planted them out and the next day they were black no green no sprouts ….for over $50. I wrote, but no one answered me. I’m really sad because I loved proven winners, but this has been very disappointing. I am a certified master gardener and have grown many many roses. This is just never happened before.

Hi Garden Friend, were sorry to hear this!! I see we responded to your email March 12th. I have resent it today 3/25.

This is a beautiful and vigorous climbing rose. I bought a gallon and planted it in spring and it's put out a ton of lilac blooms already. The blooms seem to open and die off fairly quickly, but more blooms are frequently on the way. I'm very impressed with its growth and blooming in its first season. This rose has very few thorns as well which is nice for a climber.

We're so happy to hear that you are enjoying your rose! Be sure to share photos later in the season. 😊

I received a very full quart size plant that was already beginning to branch. I put it in the ground after acclimating it. So far it is doing well.

We're so happy to hear that you are enjoying your roses!

Resending review which never got published :/

I purchased 3 quart sizes during fall 2023. They bloomed a bit this spring, but haven’t done much else l, even after feeding, etc. These seem to be very slow growers so hoping they do much better next year (2025).

Thank you for sharing!! All shrubs will grow at least 1-2 feet per year. Enjoy 😍

Really pretty and healthy-looking plants, but BOTH of these rose bushes had broken branches, meaning I lost nearly a dozen roses before I even opened the boxes. ☹️

Healthy plants but extremely tiny. Glad I’m planting these in the Fall—give them time to grow roots. Time will tell.
