Funyella® clematis isn't your average climber. From spring to midsummer, its bell-shaped blooms nod on the vines, emanating a crisp grapefruit scent. Its little flowers have pointed petals and two-toned yellow and pink coloring, made even more interesting by burgundy stems. It’s good for pergolas, mailbox posts, and twisting up through shrubs in the border. No need to tear it down each year, as it blooms on old wood. You can let it grow through your garden on its own, creating fun new flower pairings as it goes.
6-10 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide at maturity
Hardy in zones 4-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
Plant in full sun to part sun (4+ hours daily)
Space plants 3-4 feet apart for best results
Produces an abundance of fragrant, bell-shaped canary yellow flowers from spring through summer
Maintains green foliage on a climbing, vining habit from spring to frost
Blooms on old wood
Great for decks, fences, trellises, containers, mixed borders, landscapes or as a focal point
Resists rabbits and disease
Long blooming, heat tolerant, low maintenance
Care: Best in full sun or light shade, keep base and roots completely shaded. "Feet in the shade, head in the sun" is a saying you may have heard for successfully growing clematis, so plant it where the vine gets sunshine, but the roots stay cool. Requires well-drained soil. You can accomplish this with mulch, or by shading the root zone with a nearby shrub or perennial.Little to no pruning required. If desired, a light trim can be done after the spring. Fertilize with Proven Winners® Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and midsummer.
