A wonderfully tall grass, Graceful Grasses® Purple Fountain Grass has burgundy seed heads that rest atop neat bronze-purple foliage that seems to always be swaying pleasantly in the wind. While this grass should be treated as an annual in areas that fall below 20 degrees F, it can provide excellent winter interest when frozen over and covered in ice!
This highly sought-after container size for annuals provides immediate impact upon planting because they are grown in a larger container. They were created for gardeners who are looking to fill in their landscapes and not have to wait as long for them to catch up to other plants in the same area. They also work extremely well when planted alone in 10" - 12" containers or as Thrillers for combinations in 16" and larger planters!
- 30-36 inches tall and 12-24 inches wide at maturity
- Hardy in zones 9-11, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
- Plant in part to full sun (4 to 6+ hours daily)
- Space plants 18-24 inches apart for best results
- Maintains bronze-purple foliage with burgundy seed heads from planting to first frost
- Great for containers, cut flowers, dried flowers, grass, landscapes, mass planting
- Heat tolerant, deadheading not necessary
Care: Cut back in fall, or by mid to late spring. If you live in an area where fire isn't a problem, you can leave the dried grasses and seed heads in your garden for winter interest.
