Please note: Our Ships Now shrubs are still waking up from dormancy! In the spring, shrubs begin to emerge from dormancy with swelling buds and potentially new growth as temperatures rise and daylight hours increase. The Starblast Chiffon™ rose of Sharon is a shrub that sticks out, and not just for its impressive size (though that doesn't hurt). Part of what makes this shrub so special is that it flowers sooner and for longer than many similar varieties, and the flowers that it produces are simply stunning. They are a soft off-white shade, with a burst of bright magenta exploding from the middle. The uniformly green foliage that they sit upon helps to really make those blooms pop!

  • 8-12 feet tall and 5-8 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 5-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 5-8 feet apart for best results
  • Produces white flowers with a magenta starburst throughout summer
  • Maintains green foliage spring to frost
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for borders, landscapes, screening, mass planting, or as a focal point
  • Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds while resisting deer
  • Heat, drought and salt tolerant, long blooming, low maintenance

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Requires well-draining soil. Regular pruning is not necessary. If any shaping is desired, do so in early spring. Note that Rose of Sharon is quite late to leaf out in spring, so be patient with it.
