Garden Gem is a semi-determinate, snack-size tomato that has a true heirloom taste, with modern disease resistance and high fruit yield. It has firm, juicy fruit with a smooth, balanced flavor, perfect for snacking.This easy to grow favorite is a must have for all gardens looking to harvest from their gardens for dinner!

  • 30-42 inches tall and 12-20 inches wide at maturity
  • Annual except in zones 10-11
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 24-30 inches apart for best results
  • Produces edible fruits during summer to frost
  • Great for containers, landscapes, specimen or focal point
  • Edible, heat tolerant, long blooming, disease resistant

Care: Fertilize weekly with Proven Winners Water Soluble Plant Food for best performance. Grow in the landscape or in a 16-20" diameter pot. It should not need staking or caging but support can be provided if needed. Consistent watering and regular fertilization will be key to keeping your plant in full production mode. These plants will produce tomatoes for an extended period of time and thrives in heat and humidity. Fruit ripens in about 65 days.

I was happy to have grown this variety since it was my first to ripen tomato this season! It even beat my “Early Girls”. It is on the small side but had a nice meatiness to it and produced quite an abundance. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was it did seem to succumb to the heat waves we’ve had ( which were horrific this summer). The plant itself scorched and lost most of the flowers. However, If the weather conditions had been more in keeping with what New England usually experiences, I’m sure I would have favored this tomato with closer to 5 stars.

I love Garden Gem tomatoes already, and am so happy that PW has seedlings. These were well over a foot tall, and slightly pot bound. I guess you don't ship too many places like Flagstaff where the last frost date can be after June 1st! They arrived in excellent condition and just got into their large pots. Thanks!

I’m very pleased with the plants I had shipped to me. I can find things cheaper in person, but I live pretty far from any nursery that would carry anything similar. The plants arrived quickly and directly to my doorstep. This tomato is very healthy and is out performing my others so far. I planted in a container and it’s growing quickly. I will be ordering more from proven winners online. Side note: it’s really nice having the info of the website when picking plants. I still LOVE nursery shopping, but often impulse buy plants that I don’t have enough info on or a plan for. I know you know :)
