Superbena® Cobalt displays vigorous dark blue-purple flowers clustered in large umbels covering deep green foliage. With a mounding-trailing habit, they function as both spillers and fillers in combination planters and are best planted at the front of landscape beds. It is heat tolerant, resists deer, and attracts butterflies.

  • 6-12 inches tall and 18-30 inches wide at maturity
  • Annual except in zones 8-11
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 10-14 inches apart for best results
  • Produces dark blue-purple flowers from planting to frost
  • Maintains green foliage mounding, trailing habit spring to frost
  • Great for borders, containers, edging, landscapes, mass planting
  • Attracts butterflies and resists deer
  • Heat and drought tolerant, long blooming, deadheading not necessary, fall interest

The Eco+Grande features nutrients embedded in the container walls, which help plants grow bigger and faster throughout the season when planted in the ground. Be sure to remove the tabs from the container before planting. If you choose to plant in a container, we recommend taking the plant out of the Eco+Grande, breaking it apart, and mixing it into the soil at the time of planting. When the Proven Winners Eco+Grande container is discarded in the garbage can, it will naturally break down faster in a landfill than a traditional petroleum made container. The container will get smaller and smaller until microbes consume it, turning it back into an inert organic product. Learn more about this in our blog

Care: Fertilize weekly with Proven Winners Water Soluble Plant Food for best performance. Prune to shape as desired throughout the season.

Paired this Colbalt Superbena w Supertunia Jazzberry (25 each) in Spring of 2024, truly beautiful. All 50 plants arrived very well packed, all survived with zero complaints!

They came in bad shape. A lot dried dying leaves and stems. Currently still nursing back to life. My advice is to buy the flowers with the 4 and 5 star reviews. Never had any problem with those.

This plant is loving it’s life in 10b. It spread well the first year and filled in and weaved through the bed even more the second year. The color of the leaves and flowers have remained true. My only regret is not adding more to our garden. It’s a stunner and I’m often asked it’s name and place to purchase!

I was told it was the same suberbena as last year's Imperial Blue...Cobalt did not perform at all. Few blooms, small spread, just a bunch of duds planted for no reason. Very disappointed
