Shadowland® Empress Wu makes a fantastic statement in your shade garden with gigantic upright mounds of thick, dark green leaves topped with pale lavender-purple flowers in early summer. It is the largest known hosta available and provides interesting foliage for containers or landscapes.

  • 36-48 inches tall and 60-72 inches wide at maturity
  • Scape height 48 inches
  • Hardy in zones 3-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full shade (4 or less hours of sun daily)
  • Space plants 60-72 inches apart for best results
  • Produces lavender-purple flowers in early to mid summer
  • Maintains dark green foliage spring to frost
  • Great for borders, landscapes or as a focal point

Care: Clean away the dead foliage after frost to prevent insect problems. Fertilize with Proven Winners® Continuous Release Fertilizer in the spring.

The plant wasn't shipped in the most stable supportive box

The plant wasn't shipped in the most stable supportive box. When I received my plant the box was very beat up and all the dirt had came out of the pot and was everywhere in the box. All the leaves were bent & the plant was smashed. I still planted & have my fingers crossed :(

The box was crushed. One of the hostas survived ok, but the other had all of the leaves either broken off or cracked. I planted both. The better of the two has put out two new leaves. The other has not put out any new leaves but the parts of the leaves that survived are still green.
