As cute as a button and tough as nails, Low Scape Mound® Aronia might just be the most versatile, low-maintenance shrub you can plant. This innovative dwarf selection brings multi-season appeal in a compact, mounded form that fits beautifully into any landscape. Spring kicks off with a flurry of white blooms, followed by glossy dark foliage and clusters of black berries in summer—perfect for supporting local wildlife. In fall, it finishes strong with a bold display of red foliage. Adaptable to a wide range of soils and conditions, it’s especially well-suited for mass plantings, edging, or adding structure to mixed borders.

  • 1.5-3 feet tall and wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 3-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part sun to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 1.5-3 feet apart for best results
  • Produces white flowers in spring that give way to blue-black berries
  • Blooms on old wood
  • Maintains green foliage in spring and summer that lights up in fall with tones of red and orange
  • Great for borders, edges, ground cover, landscapes and mass planting
  • Attracts bees and butterflies
  • Fall interest, foliage interest, drought tolerant, salt tolerant, native to North America

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Aronia blooms on old wood, so if pruning is required, it should be pruned immediately after flowering. Do note, however, that this will remove the potential for fruit to form. If you need to manage the spread of the plant, that can be done as needed.
