True to its name, Hot Shot™ brings the heat with vivid red blooms that demand attention—from garden guests and hummingbirds alike. Its big, bold, satellite dish-shaped flowers keep the show going all season long, offering maximum color with minimal effort.

Perfect for containers or summer garden beds, this tropical hibiscus thrives in the heat but needs to come indoors when temperatures drop. In colder climates, place it in a bright, cool spot for winter and keep watering light. It might shed a few leaves and pause blooming, but once it’s back in the sunshine, Hot Shot™ bounces right back—lush, vibrant, and bursting with blooms. It’s the ultimate drama queen, in all the best ways.

  • 5 feet tall and 4 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 9-11, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 4+ feet apart for best results
  • Produces satellite dish-shaped vivid red flowers with starting in spring until fall
  • Maintains green foliage spring to frost
  • Great for containers, borders, focal point and landscapes
  • Attracts hummingbirds
  • Heat tolerant, long blooming

Care: For best flowering, especially in areas where you are growing Hollywood Hibiscus as a patio plant, fertilize regularly with a balanced fertilizer. “Bloom booster” and any fertilizers that contain high amounts of phosphorous (P, the middle number) should be avoided. Excess phosphorous is harmful to tropical hibiscus, and will result in yellowing leaves and stunted, unattractive growth. Prune in late winter/early spring.
