The Double Coded™ 'Butter Pecan' Coneflower is notable for many reasons, one of which is its impressive bloom size. Flowers grow up to 4 inches across and display a light, soft presentation of uniform double-yellow. 'Butter Pecan' is a prolific bloomer, so you'll have no shortage of flowers to admire when it kicks into gear.

'Butter Pecan' is rather short for the size of flower that it produces, which leads to many favoring this beauty for areas towards the front of beds, where it can be observed close up. Wonderfully scented, it resists deer while proving attractive to various species of birds- especially if the blooms are left to age into the colder months of the year!

  • 18-20 inches tall and 16-18 inches wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 4-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 16-18 inches apart for best results
  • Produces fragrant, 4” wide double soft melon flowers mid summer to late summer
  • Maintains green foliage spring to frost
  • Great for borders, containers, cut flowers, dried flowers, mass plantings
  • Resists deer
  • Native to North America, drought tolerant

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners® Continuous Release Fertilizer in spring. Grow in sunny and hot locations with well-drained soils. Tolerates light shade, but best performance is in full sun. Drought tolerant once established.

Mixed reviews for this coneflower. Customers said "the color is wonderful and they are thriving" when plants arrive healthy. However, shipping issues are common—many received plants waterlogged, wilted, or with damaged leaves. Heat sensitivity noted. When successfully planted, blooms are beautiful and garden-worthy.

This is so awful that this plant was sent the other was just as bad. Proven Winners sent a half dead looking plant. Was it grabbed of the scrap pile? The other was upside down with no dirt.

Wilted within 24 hours and appeared dead the next day

Wilted within 24 hours and appeared dead the next day. Appeared to have dried out during transit-edges of plant ball had pulled away from inside of pot. Tried this same plant last year with same result. I will not buy again.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We would like to offer a replacement. Please reach out to us at helpdesk@provenwinnersdirect.com and we will assist you with this issue.

Received water logged and looking like it's about dead. I was so disappointed I could've cried. I ordered this new and different variety of cone flower to put in my butterfly garden. I tried to send some pictures but after writing a review three different times along with a picture(s), I gave up because they wouldn't "send". I hope PW will send me another one that is healthy as I see from online ordering there's still some in stock. I planted the one I received but I don't think it'll make it.

Double Coded® 'Butter Pecan' Coneflower (Echinacea hybrid)

This arrived water logged and with brown flower heads. I'm hoping after some serious pruning it will come out of it, It's only been planted 10 days so I'm optimistic. It will be a beautiful addition to my garden if it can survive the stress.

The flowers look ok but the leaves looked pretty beat up. Im planting and hoping they look better next Summer. I dont do well with coneflowers (they turn black) but hopefully these do ok in a new spot where other older coneflowers did exceptionally well this Summer (i think my nee spot has better air circulation).

I ordered during a heat wave and had great concerns about how they would arrive, but I worried unnecessarily. They arrived looking great and planted them the next day. The color is wonderful and they are thriving.

I love this plant. The only complaint I have is it is struggling in the heat! I think I would have had a different experience if I had ordered them a month ago. Right now, we are keeping it wet and enjoying it starting to bloom!

Thank you for sharing!! Enjoy!😊
