Yuki Cherry Blossom is a shower of elegant, bell-like pink flowers that creates a carpet of color in spring. Green foliage turns burgundy-purple in fall on a neat, mounded habit. This tough, adaptable plant makes an excellent groundcover, especially on a sunny slope. It attracts hummingbirds and resists deer.
Care: Pruning is seldom needed but may be shaped immediately after flowering. Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer.
Fun fact: Deutzia and hydrangeas are botanically related (i.e., by the number and arrangement of their flower parts) - they're basically cousins!
These also were little and not well rooted but much better than the Buddlea I purchased at the same time. They arrived well boxed as all the plants did. This was a new to me plant so I can't wait to see how it grows.
I was somewhat distressed when I opened the box with my Yuki Cherry Blossom® (Deutzia). It was delivered promptly and on time, but unlike my past PW deliveries, they were dry and sad. Since this was a first (poor condition on delivery) I decided to give it a week or so to judge. I repotted them, as I usually do most of my perennials and woody stock if I am not putting them in the ground immediately. I watered, put them in my greenhouse, and watered some more. Finally, after a couple weeks I can say that they are looking good. Hopefully I get some fall rain so that I can get them in the ground soon.
