Anna's Magic Ball® arborvitae is a cute little sphere of cheerful yellow foliage. It was developed in Canada, so you know that this little plant isn't bothered by winter weather and holds its color all year-round. This nifty little native evergreen needs no pruning to keep its tight, rounded shape and makes a nice addition to perennial beds, rock gardens, troughs and containers, or any landscape project. It's petite size and well-behaved manner makes it an especially nice choice for smaller yards and gardens.

  • 2-3 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 3-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part sun to full sun (4 to 6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 3-4 feet apart for best results
  • Maintains a tidy, round habit of cheery yellow-green, textured foliage year-round
  • Great for borders, containers, landscapes, rock gardens, mass planting
  • Native to North America, evergreen, fall and winter interest, miniature variety

Customers describe these as slow-growing, low-maintenance shrubs ideal for small spaces. Many praised their health in full sun with "very polite" growth habits. However, concerns include sparse root systems, small initial size for the price, and mixed winter survival. Several noted excellent arrival condition and successful transplanting.

Anna's Magic Ball® Arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis)

The package was late to be delivered and was poorly packaged. One bush was broken and all 4 bushes had exposed roots because all the dirt had been dumped out of the containers. I tried my best watering and planting immediately but have little to no confidence they will survive. I won’t recommend or buy again from here.

Thank you for sharing your review of your Anna's Magic Ball® Arborvitaes. We're sorry to hear this and are happy to help! Can you please reply to this email with photos of the plants themselves so we can further assist you.

Great little shrubs!

I started with the quart size, and I’ve had these for two seasons. They are about 10-12 inches tall and very healthy. I knew they would be small and slow growing, but that’s partially why I chose them. They are very polite shrubs and don’t get out of control or require any maintenance. They have stayed healthy in full sun in 7a with only modest amount of supplemental water. Love them!!

Ana's magic ball, is a little underwelming. It's always so hard to see new plant with no shape or detail of what could be. It's planted and I'm waiting to see some life.
