The Starblast Chiffon™ rose of Sharon is a shrub that sticks out, and not just for its impressive size (though that doesn't hurt). Part of what makes this shrub so special is that it flowers sooner and for longer than many similar varieties, and the flowers that it produces are simply stunning. They are a soft off-white shade, with a burst of bright magenta exploding from the middle. The uniformly green foliage that they sit upon helps to really make those blooms pop!

  • 8-12 feet tall and 5-8 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 5-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 5-8 feet apart for best results
  • Produces white flowers with a magenta starburst throughout summer
  • Maintains green foliage spring to frost
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for borders, landscapes, screening, mass planting, or as a focal point
  • Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds while resisting deer
  • Heat, drought and salt tolerant, long blooming, low maintenance

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Requires well-draining soil. Regular pruning is not necessary. If any shaping is desired, do so in early spring. Note that Rose of Sharon is quite late to leaf out in spring, so be patient with it.

One plant came in a plastic pot that was a bit smashed, but still intact. The plant had yellowing leaves. I contacted the customer service folks with photos, but they just told me to plant it, fertilize and water it, and get back to them if it didn't improve. That was only a few days ago, so it's too soon to tell. But I was disappointed by the quality of the item and, honestly, the quality of the response.

I received very healthy green leaf plants. Shortly after I had a bloom and a flower. They are beautiful. The flowers is a white to very light pink with ruffled and pink center, just like the picture. The plants came well packed to prevent any shifting during shipping. They were very secure in the box. I’m very happy with my purchase! Thank you!

As previously stated, not happy with my purchase. It would behoove you to notify the customer that the purchased item does not look like the picture. My plants looked dead and the response from customer service was, “They are dominant!.” Unbelievable!
