Supertunia® Saffron Finch is a new, sunny yellow Supertunia with a full, well-branched, rounded habit. Its flowers are a more intense yellow than Supertunia Limoncello, but they may transition to creamy yellow in southern climates. Try pairing Supertunia Saffron Finch with bold purples, reds and magentas for an especially eye-catching look. Its mounded trailing habit helps it mix beautifully with other medium to high vigor varieties in hanging baskets, upright containers and window boxes, and it can also be used as a flowering groundcover. Like all Supertunias, you can expect this colorful new petunia to bloom prolifically all season without deadheading.

  • 4-12 inches tall and 18-24 inches wide at maturity

I love this variety, and adding this yellow to

I love this variety, and adding this yellow to the other colors in my containers just make them pop. But the order is received this time was extremely disappointing. Only a couple of small branches, and when planting…certainly not well rooted. They looked like starters. No roots to speak of when planting, mostly soil in the pot.

Short lived in zone 8

I tried saffron finch in the early spring in the landscape and it performed well but is clearly not a vista. They have beautiful and prolific yellow blooms which is what I wanted. Fast forward to humid June in zone 8b and they all died. I carry a moisture meter for watering purposes and despite every effort I couldn’t save them. I decided to take a chance and replant 5 of the 6 I originally had and not one of them looks like they’re going to make it after planting just 2 weeks ago! A total disappointment. Petunias don’t seem to do well in humid climates I’ve decided and Proven Winners should be clearer about what climates they do best in.

We're sorry to hear about your experience with the Supertunia® Saffron Finch™ in your climate. We appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to HelpDesk@ProvenWinnersDirect.com with pictures of your plants for further assistance.😊🌺

Unfortunately, a nearby nest of bunnies is starting a smorgasbord. I’m using repellent to keep them at bay.

Very happy with Saffron Finch Supertunia

I took a chance this year ordering the Saffron Finch, hoping they would be as colorful and large as the Bubblegum...and so far, they are! They are a bright yellow, look beautiful in all the containers, and mix well with the Bubblegum too. The plants are just getting started right now, but I can see they are very hardy and handling the crazy weather (rain, strong wind) we are currently having here in NV. I am looking forward to some beautiful displays of color as they grow. Will be buying these again for sure.

We are thrilled to hear that you are happy with our Supertunia Saffron Finch Petunia. We take pride in providing colorful and hardy plants for our customers. We are glad to hear that they are handling the crazy weather in Nevada. We look forward to seeing your beautiful displays of color as they grow. 😍✨

Supertunia® Saffron Finch™ Petunia

I've been very impressed with this petunia. It has stayed in bloom for over 3 months with no pruning, or a reviving haircut. I planted it in an urn and in flower boxes with other plants and I love how the yellow color works with white, blue and coral. I use a mix of equal parts time-release fertilizer and a granular organic fertilizer, stirred into my containers before I plant, and these petunias haven't needed anything else so far. I anticipate that this plant will continue flowering into the fall.

Thank you for sharing!! We're so happy to hear that you are enjoying your Supertunias! We'd love to see photos! :)

The saffron finch petunias planted in full sun died with the extreme heat we had this summer. But the plants look very good in the partial sun area which doesn’t get the hottest afternoon sun.

I’ve always wanted to try Limoncello but never found them in a greenhouse. This year I ordered Supertunia saffron finch. They are beautiful with Supertunia bubblegum and Suberbena raspberry in half barrel planters and Superbena whiteout in planters over the railing.

Beautiful and thriving!! Thank you for sharing all of your photos with us! :)
