Superbena Sparkling Amethyst displays vigorous, lilac and white flowers all season. With a mounding-trailing habit, they function as both spillers and fillers in combination planters and are best planted at the front of landscape beds. They are heat tolerant and attract butterflies.

  • 6-12 inches tall and 18-30 inches wide at maturity
  • Annual except in zones 8-11, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 10-14 inches apart for best results
  • Produces purple flowers splashed with white and lavender planting through frost
  • Maintains green foliage spring through frost
  • Great for borders, containers, groundcover, landscapes and mass planting

  • Heat tolerant, continuous bloomer, long blooming, drought tolerant, fall interest, deadheading not necessary

Superbena Sparkling® Amethyst Verbena

Planted this container in May (zone 8b, Redmond, WA) with Sparkling Amethyst verbena, Superbells, and Princess Tuft grass (proven winners recipe). Within no time, the verbena has taken over with gorgeous, nonstop blooms—almost completely outcompeting the Superbells. The "after" picture is after I gave a hard trim two weeks back as amethyst was touching the deck floor and completely overgrown.

I love the vibrant color and lush growth—would definitely plant Sparkling Amethyst again!

It’s hard to imagine how nature makes something so multidimensional and extraordinary. It’s stunning.

These plants came nice and healthy but unfortunately I wasn’t able to plant them right away. Unlike the Vistas, these weren’t happy not being planted right away, and appeared to be on the verge of death. I planted them anyway and fertilized weekly with Proven Winners Water Soluble Fertilizer, plus a tiny bit of starter fertilizer, and within a few weeks, they’re blooming! Absolutely stunning.

They look healthy & we’re well packaged. They have not bloomed much yet though.
