Arctic Fire® Yellow, like its red counterpart, is a perfect choice for seasonal interest in the colder months of the year. Its warm, autumnal-yellow coloring pairs excellently with the greens and reds of winter, and the branches make fantastic decor at just about any point in the year. Like Arctic Fire Red, it has a rather compact habit for a dogwood making it fantastic choice for border and mass planting. It looks equally as gorgeous, though, as a stand-alone feature.
- 4-5 feet tall and 5-6 feet wide at maturity
- Grow in zones 3-7
- Plant in full sun to part shade (3+ hours sun daily)
Our deciduous shrubs are entering their natural dormancy phase. As part of this process, foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off—this is completely normal! Shedding leaves helps the plants conserve energy and prepare for the next growing season. Rest assured, your shrubs will wake up and thrive again when it's time in your growing zone. Dormancy is how they prepare for a healthy, vibrant comeback as the seasons change!
Care: The best yellow color appears on one and two-year old stems; older stems will turn corky and brown. To maintain a colorful display, you can do one of two things: one, cut the whole plant back to short stubs every other year. Two, cut out one-third of the oldest stems every year. Early spring is the best time to prune. Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food every spring.
