Pearl Glam® Beautyberry (Callicarpa x)

Our shrubs are currently going dormant. The foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off. During dormancy, plants go inactive to conserve their energy for the next growing season. This happens naturally as seasons change!

Pearl Glam® Beautyberry is a stunning garden standout, beginning with dark purple foliage in the spring that adds instant drama to your landscape. As summer wanes, delicate white flowers bloom, giving way to an abundance of vibrant violet-purple berries in the fall. The upright growth habit of this compact beauty makes it an excellent space-saver, while its natural deer resistance ensures it remains a low-maintenance choice. Perfect for adding color and interest from season to season, Pearl Glam® is a must-have for any garden.

  • 4-5 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 5-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 2-4 feet apart for best results
  • Produces white flowers in spring followed by violet-purple berries in the fall
  • Maintains dark purple foliage spring through frost
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for borders, screening, landscapes, mass plantings, or as a focal point
  • Resists deer
  • Foliage interest, fall interest, deadheading not necessary

Our deciduous shrubs are entering their natural dormancy phase. As part of this process, foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off—this is completely normal! Shedding leaves helps the plants conserve energy and prepare for the next growing season. Rest assured, your shrubs will wake up and thrive again when it's time in your growing zone. Dormancy is how they prepare for a healthy, vibrant comeback as the seasons change!

Care:  Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring. Prune, if desired, in early spring, and remove any dead wood at that point as well. The plant may experience some dieback each year in colder zones, but it will resprout from the ground and still flower and fruit that year.
