Care:  Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Avoid pruning bigleaf hydrangeas, except to remove any dead wood. These hydrangeas cannot be cut back or trimmed at any time of the year without impacting the bloom for either the current season or the next. Soil pH affects flower color, so expect dramatic deep purple-blue blooms in acidic soils and vivid red hues in neutral to alkaline soil.
