In the spring, shrubs begin to emerge from dormancy with swelling buds and potentially new growth as temperatures rise and daylight hours increase. Current Location:

Fire Light Tidbit® is a dwarf hydrangea which is great for the front of the beds, borders, or edges with a bun-shaped habit and proportionately sized rounded blooms that are so abundant they nearly block out the textured foliage. The late-season blooms emerge a creamy, light green-white and quickly begin to turn raspberry pink, while the foliage transitions to hues of orange, maroon, and red in the fall, creating a stunning display of color.

  • 2-3 feet tall and 3 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 3-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in part sun (4+ hours daily) in southern climates and part to full sun in northern climates
  • Space plants 3 feet apart for best results
  • Produces white flowers in late summer, aging to shades of pink and red in the fall
  • Maintains green foliage spring and summer, maturing to hues of orange, maroon, and red in the fall
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for borders, containers, landscapes, hedges, cut and dried flowers
  • Salt tolerant, fall interest

Care:  Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Prefers well-drained soil that does not remain soggy for any amount of time. To prune, simply cut back by one-third of its total height every spring, just as new growth begins to emerge on stems. Make cuts just about 1/4 of an inch above a bud. Dead or damaged wood can be removed at any time.
