Sonic Bloom® Wine will bring a great element of color contrast to just about any garden. Dark, nicely mounding foliage supports bell-shaped light pink blooms. It's a re-bloomer, too, giving you all the more time to enjoy the show that it puts on. Its medium size profile allows for a wide range of planting options, just make sure that you plant it in an area where you can enjoy all the pollinators that it will bring to your garden.

  • 4-5 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 4-8, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 3-4 feet apart for best results
  • Maintains rich burgundy-green foliage on a clean, tidy habit
  • Produces pink flowers starting in late spring and reblooming through summer
  • Blooms on old wood
  • Great for borders, containers, landscapes, mass plantings, foundation plantings
  • Continuous blooming, long blooming, foliage interest, fall interest

Our deciduous shrubs are entering their natural dormancy phase. As part of this process, foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off—this is completely normal! Shedding leaves helps the plants conserve energy and prepare for the next growing season. Rest assured, your shrubs will wake up and thrive again when it's time in your growing zone. Dormancy is how they prepare for a healthy, vibrant comeback as the seasons change!

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Prefers well-drained soils but is fairly adaptable to other soil types. If desired, prune immediately after the spring bloom.

We were so excited to find a deer resistant shrub with continuous blooms. Ours were obliterated by deer within the first week of planting (May) and they haven’t come back from it (August). Maybe next year? But we’re pretty disappointed because we chose them specifically for the deer resistance.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out, we are happy to help! We would be happy to replace this plant for you, but I do not see any orders from you. Do you have an order number that we can look up?

Sincerely,
PWD Team

Since we had our first frost the end of October and this was sent the beginning of November, in spite of my noting that fact, I will most likely have to replace them in Spring. The last time they did this, I lost 5 out of 10 plants and was chided on the phone for putting them in the ground in the fall. They told me they had to be planted 6 weeks before the first frost. That’s impossible to do when they get sent after the first frost. I know if they don’t make it, they’ll replace them, but their replacements are much lower quality plants. What’s a person to do when they receive contradictory information ?

Janice,

Thanks for sharing!

We currently only offer orders as ship now, so whenever an order is placed it gets filled as soon as possible due to the various hardiness zones and planting times of all of our customers.

We recommend our customers in cold climates get their plants in the ground at least 6 weeks from their fall frost date if able to do so. In this situation, since you ordered after your fall frost date, if these shrubs do not return next spring we can replace them for you!

I love Sonic Bloom weigelas. This 1 gallon size has actually grown and bloomed. The three smaller ones I purchased in the past never grew and two of them actually died.
