Please Note: Our Ships Now shrubs will currently ship dormant. The foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off. During dormancy, plants go inactive to conserve their energy for the next growing season. This happens naturally as seasons change!

Current Location:

White Pillar® Rose of Sharon naturally grows as a narrow column, so it takes up just a fraction of the space that conventional roses of Sharon do. This variety sports pure white, semi-double blooms summer through fall that attract pollinators while the foliage resists deer. Plant alongside your front entrance, as the centerpiece to a formal container, as a privacy screen, or a dramatic specimen.

  • 10-16 feet tall and 4-5 feet wide at maturity
  • Hardy in zones 5-9, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)
  • Space plants 4-5 feet apart for best results
  • Produces white flowers throughout summer
  • Maintains green foliage spring to frost
  • Blooms on new wood
  • Great for borders, containers, screening, landscape, mass planting or as a focal point
  • Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds while resisting deer
  • Heat, drought and salt tolerant, long blooming, low maintenance

Our deciduous shrubs are entering their natural dormancy phase. As part of this process, foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off—this is completely normal! Shedding leaves helps the plants conserve energy and prepare for the next growing season. Rest assured, your shrubs will wake up and thrive again when it's time in your growing zone. Dormancy is how they prepare for a healthy, vibrant comeback as the seasons change!

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Requires well-draining soil. Regular pruning is not necessary. If any shaping is desired, do so in early spring. Note that Rose of Sharon is quite late to leaf out in spring, so be patient with it.
