Mega Millions™ Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia)- New Proven Winners® Variety 2024

Our perennials are currently going dormant. The foliage and blooms begin to brown and die back. We provide a hard trim in the greenhouse to support this process. During dormancy, plants go inactive to conserve their energy for the next growing season. This happens naturally as seasons change!

Hitting the jackpot of summer blooms is now a possibility for every gardener with the new Mega Millions™ Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia). Held up by broad deep green leaves, the showy yellow petals surround a black center, creating a cheerful summer display that will last until your first frost.

Mega Millions™ has taken this beloved summer perennial to new heights with improved disease resistance and an incredible ability to bloom like crazy. In the breeder’s trials, one 3-year-old Mega Millions plant produced over 1,000 more flowers than a 7-year-old plant of ‘Goldsturm’ in a single season!

  • 30 - 36 inches tall and wide at maturity
  • Grows in zones 3-9
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)

Our perennial plants are entering their natural dormancy phase. As part of this process, foliage and blooms are browning and dying back—this is completely normal! We give the plants a hard trim in our greenhouse to support them as they conserve energy for the next growing season. Rest assured, your perennials will wake up and thrive again when it's time in your growing zone. Dormancy is how they prepare for a healthy, vibrant comeback as the seasons change!

Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Cut back in the spring.
