Arctic Fire® Red is a dogwood of striking color, lending itself to season-appropriate decor and seasonal interest in the colder months of the year. It has a rather compact habit for a dogwood, making it fantastic choice for border and mass planting. With that being said, it looks equally as gorgeous as a stand-alone feature.
- 3-5 feet tall and wide at maturity
- Grow in zones 2-7
- Plant in full sun to part shade (3+ hours sun daily)
Our deciduous shrubs are entering their natural dormancy phase. As part of this process, foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off—this is completely normal! Shedding leaves helps the plants conserve energy and prepare for the next growing season. Rest assured, your shrubs will wake up and thrive again when it's time in your growing zone. Dormancy is how they prepare for a healthy, vibrant comeback as the seasons change!
Care: The best red color appears on one and two-year old stems; older stems will turn corky and brown. To maintain a colorful display, you can do one of two things: one, cut the whole plant back to short stubs every other year. Two, cut out one-third of the oldest stems every year. Early spring is the best time to prune. Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food every spring.
Arctic Fire® Red-Osier Dogwood Cornus is restricted and cannot be shipped to the state(s) of FL.
