Height 36 - 120 in.

This vining jungle aroid is grown for its unique, silvery gray foliage that almost appears metallic - where it gets it's common name "silver sword". This plant is a climber, so be sure to give it a moss pole, trellis, or some other support for roots to attach to as the plant grows. In nature they climb up trees, to compete for the scarce jungle light, so they do best in low to moderate light that is filtered and not direct. As the plant matures, these leaves become deeply lobed and almost triangle-like in shape.

  • 3-10 feet tall and 2-6 feet wide at maturity
  • Prefers high humidity with temperatures between 60-85 F
  • Requires low to medium light, near east/west facing windows or interior rooms
  • Maintains elongated triangle-like green leaves with a unique silvery tint that almost appears metallic
  • Great for humid spaces, low-light spaces, kitchens, bathrooms, interior rooms
  • Low-light tolerant, foliage interest, vigorous growth

Care Information

  • Temperature: For optimal performance, keep at 60-85°F (15-29°C).
  • Light: Bright filtered light, imitating what this plant receives in nature, is best. But early morning or late afternoon sun is beneficial when growing indoors. Sunny windows are particularly beneficial in the wintertime if you live in an area with shorter, dark days in the winter time.
  • Humidity: These plants prefer high humidity, and maintaining this will also help to deter spider mites which they can be prone to in dry air.
  • Soil: Like any aroid, this plant prefers chunky potting mixes that provide plenty of air circulation to the root system. Amending your all-purpose potting mix with perlite and orchid bark is one way to accomplish this.
  • Watering: Water when the top 1-2 inches of potting mix feels dry. They don't want to be wet all the time, nor do they want to dry out completely.
  • Growing: Feed once per month at half strength when plant is actively growing.
