Our shrubs are currently going dormant. The foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off. During dormancy, plants go inactive to conserve their energy for the next growing season. This happens naturally as seasons change!

Dark Lavender Chiffon displays rich, dark purple flowers all summer on dark green foliage. It is heat, drought, and salt-tolerant once established, attracts pollinators, and resists deer. This is a great large shrub for landscape use, young plants can be used in containers but will need to be moved to the landscape as they mature. Also incredible when pruned into a small tree. This is a great addition to the mixed border or can be a nice specimen. It sets few to no seed so it will not invade your garden.

  • 8-12 ft. tall and 6-10 ft. wide at maturity
  • Grow in zones 5-9
  • Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily)

Our deciduous shrubs are entering their natural dormancy phase. As part of this process, foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off—this is completely normal! Shedding leaves helps the plants conserve energy and prepare for the next growing season. Rest assured, your shrubs will wake up and thrive again when it's time in your growing zone. Dormancy is how they prepare for a healthy, vibrant comeback as the seasons change!

Care: Prune to shape in early spring if desired. Fertilize every spring with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food. Note that rose of Sharon is quite late to leaf out in spring, so be patient with it.
