Double Play Candy Corn's new growth emerges bright candy apple red, as it matures, it turns pineapple yellow, and the new growth continues to emerge bright orange all season with purple flowers in spring. Deadheading is not necessary on this deer-resistant shrub.

  • 18-24 inches tall and 18-30 inches wide at maturity
  • Grow in zones 4-8
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)

Care: It naturally takes on a nice, rounded habit without pruning. If you wish, you can give it a trim after the flowers fade, which will encourage even more colorful new growth. Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer.

Fun fact: Though you wouldn't guess it by looking at it, spiraea is closely related to roses and raspberries.

Jac, Thank you for sharing your feedback. I see you selected week 5 for your shrub to be shipped. No worries!! :) Plants shift into dormancy because of cold weather, fewer hours of sunlight exposure, shorter days, and expectations developed from previous seasonal cycles. As a result, the shrub looks dead in its dormancy phase: no leaves or flowers. Keep the shrub out of the elements by storing it inside your garage or home (coldest room) Also, keep its soil moist until outside temperatures rise and your area is frost-free. I see you are in hardiness zone 6, and you are able to plant anytime after May 1st. :)

    Spirea Double Candy Corn

I love this shrub. It has unique coloring and grows really well in zone 6.
