Beyond Midnight has extremely dark, glossy foliage, a compact habit, and deep blue late summer flowers. It adds much-needed color to the late summer landscape and makes a handsome companion with perennials. It is deer-resistant and attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Care: It requires well-drained soil to prevent root rot. Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer.

Pruning: Caryopteris should be cut back every spring to ensure sturdy, dense growth. You may give it a light trim in late autumn, once it has gone dormant, to remove the old flowers and eliminate possible seed spread. However, do not cut into any thick, woody stems until new growth begins to emerge in spring.

Healthy looking upon arrival

This has always been a favorite of mine for great end of summer and fall color. I bought 4 for a sunny hillside, looking forward to next year’s blooms. I have one in bloom now that I bought in spring, I love that it attracts so many butterflies.

Ordered 3, received 2 then received the last one the following day. All very happy and healthy looking plants! Very small amount of potting soil spilled onto wrapping which no one should worry about because that’s to be expected being shipped such a distance! What was not expected was the size and great quality of these plants! Very happy with this order and most likely will order from Proven Winners again when I can’t find their plant I want in the local stores! Thanks so much!

Very nice ordering directly from Proven Winners! I found what I wanted online but had a question so completed the sale by phone. The sales agent was very nice and very helpful. And the two shrubs were beautifully packed. They are now planted and mulched and looking good in my back yard. I am looking forward to them growing and flowering!
