The Heart to Heart® 'White Star' Sun and Shade Caladium is a striking, large leaf caladium that boasts an off-white center that veins out into a deeper green along the edges. It’s quite adaptable to different lighting conditions, and can even be kept inside!

  • 15-20 in tall and 10-14 in wide at maturity
  • Grow in zones 10-11
  • Plant in part to full sun (4+ hours daily)

Care: If you live in a cold climate, Heart to Heart Caladiums will be best suited indoors. If you live in a warm climate that stays above 60 degrees, Heart to Heart Caladiums can be used indoors or outdoors. Caladiums like consistent moisture, so avoid allowing them to dry out. Fertilize at ¼ - ½ strength every week throughout the season, if grown outdoors.

Tips for growing indoors: As a houseplant, provide a warm location with bright but indirect light. Keep the temperatures above 65 degrees F for best growth and leaf size, and a pebble tray or frequent misting can help to keep the humidity up around your plants. Even indoors, caladiums will enter dormancy after a few months in leaf. When their leaves start to die back, stop watering. Allow the plant to rest and resume watering once new growth starts.

Can I take my Caladium outside in the spring? After the dormancy requirement of roughly 60-90 days is met and they begin sprouting, water sparingly/as needed and keep out of direct light. Once they begin to sprout leaves and the outdoor soil temps stay above 60 degrees (in a container or garden), they can go back outside. This should be well after any chance of spring frost.

According to the ASPCA, caladiums are toxic to animals if consumed.
